About Me

I have worked within the field of social care since 1985. I worked for 2 years as a social work assistant with adults before qualifying as a social worker. I then worked for 12 years as a qualified social worker with children and families. In 1994 I began training and working as a psychotherapist. Since 2000, I have been registered as a Psychotherapist with The United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).

In my private practice I have worked and continue to work with adults, children, couples and families who attend with a wide variety of difficulties.

Since beginning work as a psychotherapist I have worked with adults in the health service, in doctors surgeries, and in a specialist social services unit. In more recent times I have undertaken specialist work with perpetrators of domestic violence.

I have worked with children and young people as a counsellor in schools, as a psychotherapist in a children's centre and for independent fostering and adoption support agencies. I currently work part time for a large fostering agencies which also undertakes adoption support work. In this role I provide direct work to children, consultation to carers, training to carers and staff, group work for parents and carers and dyadic work with children and carers. My special area of interest is in attachment and trauma and I have undertaken specialist training in attachment focused work and dyadic developmental psychotherapy.

My training includes

In 2013 I became a Certified Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) therapist.

I attended training in EMDR at Levels 1-3 in 2008-10 and level 1 Children's work 2011

From 2004 to 2005 I completed introductory and intermediate level training in Systemic family therapy

I hold an M.A in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy gained from Derby University in 2000.
I also hold a BA Social Sciences from the University of Leicester and a M.A in Social Work from the University of Nottingham (1990)
